Hi, I'm Aditya Bhandari

AI Research Engineer and Full Stack Developer

I am currently a 3rd semester Master's in Artificial Intelligence student at Boston University, where I also serve as a Teaching Assistant for the graduate-level course CS523: Deep Learning. Prior to BU, I worked at Barclays as a Senior Software Developer for 4 years. I completed my undergrad from IIT Kharagpur in Industrial Electronics.

About Me

I love to learn; I like questioning the fundamentals, and I'm a bit stubborn about accepting things the way they are. Imagination is fundamental to my learning. And solving problems from its first principles is my innate approach.

As a current graduate student in Artificial Intelligence at Boston University, I am fortunate enough to explore and dive into my interests in AI & Mathematics. I believe most complex things are pretty simple if you create a story out of them. Like most Mathematical equations that look complicated on first glance, usually emerge naturally from simple logic and common sense.

I am fast, agile & obssesed. I take ownership and deliver, even when tasks go beyond my current skillset.

Also, I value excellence, ethics, and innovation. Oftentimes, you'll see me taking a step back to get a bigger picture out of complex things. Understanding its wider impact, edge cases, and different perspectives helps me learn more.

Deep Learning - TA

Sept 2025 - Present

CS523 - Deep Learning is designed to be a mathematically rigorous exploration of Deep Learning. As a Graduate Teaching Assistant:

Conducted 6 hours of weekly office hours, providing not only doubt resolution but also supplementary teaching on essential Mathematical prerequisites such as linear algebra, matrix calculus, and Prob/Stats.
Guided students through conceptual understanding and mathematical derivations of key topics such as backpropagation for feedforward, convolution and recurrent neural networks, transformers, principal component analysis (PCA), autoencoders, diffusion models, and Reinforcement Learning, explaining each both mathematically and intuitively.
Curated and structured course content, including assignments and midterms.

Worked at Barclays as a Senior Software Developer for 4 years. I was involved in designing and developing microservices for various banking applications, ensuring high performance and scalability.

Aug 2015 - Jun 2020

Completed my undergrad from IIT Kharagpur in Industrial Electronics. During my time at IIT, I was actively involved in various technical clubs and projects, which helped me develop a strong foundation in engineering principles.

A voice-controlled, AI-powered map that provides real-time global updates. Built for the BU Hackathon, where it earned the Best Tech Implementation award.
